I wasn’t going to do a Thankful Tree this year. As usual, November was turning out to be crazy. Fall came so late this year that most of my photography clients waited a lot longer than usual to schedule their family photos (despite my reminders) and November was so short. But big-brother REQUESTED we do it. Luckily, I had picked up these silver letters and tags at Target in the Dollar Spot “just because”. (Target’s buyers really are the best.) I sent the boys out to the woods to find a few branches. These were not the branches I would have chosen, but busy mom’s can’t be too choosy.
I only had one pack of letters, and it only had one set of the alphabet in it. I had to figure out what I could spell with no double letters. Turn on brain!
I had glue out, so I quickly grabbed a piece of ribbon and glued the letters on to spell, “SO VERY THANKFUL”. A few dots of glue on the ribbon worked fine for each letter.
Each night when he set the table, little brother put a tag at each of our spots. We would write down and share what we were thankful for, then the boys would hang them on the tree.
I am so glad big brother talked me into this project. It’s always so refreshing to dwell on what we are thankful for than all the other things that are going on in life. And it’s so much fun to see what they write! I think I’ll keep this up for Christmas too.
