Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and he will establish your plans. Proverbs 16:3
ALL of my friends have a large vehicle full of children. Me, I have two, children that is. Not “just two”, I HAVE TWO children. I am the mother of the two children who are part of the master plan of my life.
Somedays I look at my mothering friends car-fulls and fee like I don’t fit in. They seem “busier” with “more important” things to do than mine. But that’s a LIE! I have been working hard over the last year to stop buying into that lie and I think I’m just about there. Maybe you are on this road with me?
Here’s the deal, we (moms, women, people) have each been give a mission. With that mission, we have special tools. (Think Go-Go-Gadget) My mission is not “less” or “easier” or “harder” than her’s. And her’s is not “more” or “easier” or “harder” than mine. It’s just DIFFERENT.
He makes the whole body fit together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love. Ephesians 4:16
I have two. Two awesome children. Two children who are the perfect genetic mix of my husband and myself. Two children with their own personalities generated by both nature and nurture but mostly by the Holy Spirit. And now that they are older and not home as much, my mission continues and changes all at the same time. It’s my responsibility to find out what I am to do with my empty car, empty hands, and do it. DO IT ALREADY! And I am. I have sought the Lord long (probably too long in this case really, but I’ll save that for another day) and found out what my hands were to do now that diapers and shoe tying, and constant feeding is no longer required of me. This is me telling you, I am doing it.
Comparing my day to her’s is unfair to us both. Our missions are different. My job right now, and always, is to do what is MINE to do, and do it the best I can. God will take care of the rest.
Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. Colossians 3:23
P.S. While I do my deal, I have decided to cheer all those girls along with theirs. It’s liberating. Try it.
