Hard to believe there are less than 30 days left of school here! This is a big end for one of my boys who will go onto MIDDLE SCHOOL next school year. (Let’s talk about that later though, because I don’t feel like crying today.)
Last year I read a blog post that made me really sad. The mom was overwhelmed, like most of us, with the end of school year activities, field trips, special events, etc, and was done trying to get to the finish line. I get that. I do. And as I much as I am ready to just be DONE with school and all it’s requests, I would like to help show my kids how to finish strong. The beginning of a thing is exciting, as it should be, but the end is not usually as much fun. Many people drop off when the fun ends. That’s not us. We are called to run the race, to the end. That includes the not fun parts, and even when we are tired at the finish line. When I ran track we were taught to lean in over the finish line, because that little extra body effort could secure a better time.
So with less than 30 days left of school we are going to lean into it over here at our house. No “middle-school-itis”. No “too tiered mommy, so take whatever you want for lunch”. I created an old school paper chain project you can print out for FREE. Each of the 25 strips has a simple (and FREE) act of kindness for your kids to do home or school which will show friendship and generosity. I hope you enjoy it and finish this school year with bang!
FREE SCHOOL YEAR COUNTDOWN PRINTABLE SHEETS include: 25 1″ paper strips (4 pages), a color in count down star chart for finished tasks, and a decorative background you can use to print on the reverse side of your strips (optional).
