I used to OVER ORGANIZE. I kept my socks and undies in color order. My bathroom gear was meticulous. But who has time for that? I sure don’t. And those things just need a home where I can find them, they don’t need a card-catalog (do libraries anywhere have these anymore?).
My junk drawer has a sorter in it, so I haven’t given up all sense of order. But it’s from a block or toy set that has since left the house. It fit the space and need and as you can see has been used to test pens (lovely). A utensil holder would work well too as a simple start to keeping your junk drawer under a little bit of control. A spot for pens, pencils, scissors, and whatever else lands there. A variety of random things live in the back of the drawer… a pad lock, lighter, extra buttons, old key chains…
So free yourself from OVER organizing. There is a time and place for it, but as long as the important stuff has a home, just keep it as neat as you want, and leave the stress behind.
It’s your time, use it wisely- Resa
